2012-13 Culture Night

Culture Night

To have a real feast of cultural richness, the place to be every year is at Cumberland Road Elementary School.  Cumberland Road had its third annual Passport to Learning Night.  In spectacular color, staff and students showcase the very best cultural happenings around the globe. The school comes alive with a stunningly crafted show, which underscores how very talented our students are in presenting differences and similarities among various cultures.  With passports in hand, families and community members travel through the school halls and classrooms viewing student created projects, listening to varieties of music, and searching for trivia questions answers.  Many feel as if they are transported to various locations.  Dinner is also served to students and families.  Once again, the halls were filled with the happy buzzing of voices learning and exploring.

Kindergarten Summer Camp

Kindergarten Summer Camp

Beginning school is a big step in the life of every child. Kindergarten Summer Camp provides an opportunity for rising kindergartners to attend a one-week camp before the start of school in August to help ease the transition from home to school. The camp’s primary focus is health literacy and encourages parents to complete their kindergartner’s health assessment and immunizations prior to enrolling their child.  School Nurses and community health agencies will be present at the required parent night (date shared upon acceptance.)

Kindergarten Summer Camp will be held twice over the summer. The first camp will be held July 15 – 19, 2013, and the second camp will be held July 29 – August 2, 2013.
For more information about Kindergarten Summer Camp, please call Shirley Johnson, CCS’ Healthful Living Coordinator, at 910.678.2406.
